Focus Culture & Tourism
The deepening of cultural relations and the strengthening of inter-regional tourism are of key importance for CENTROPE. Cultural exchange and tourism as well as cooperation within cultural networks are particularly apt methods for bringing the people living in the region closer together. Cultural relations reinforce the efforts to promote cross-border integration – and not in any abstract-theoretical way, either, but rather by building concrete bridges between people and creating identity.
In this, the rich cultural life of the Central European Region can become the foundation for a form of tourism that looks at the region as a whole and thus can become a significant economic and employment factor. The CENTROPE cooperation agenda wants to render attractions and services mutually better accessible, make the cultural – literary, musical, architectural, etc. – heritage of the neighbours more visible, coordinate the development of tourism infrastructure and develop and market CENTROPE as a homogeneous region for cultural and leisure tourism.
